1. Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy applies to moritory.com, the installed Moritory desktop app, and related services that link to this Policy (together, the “Service”). There is no browser-based editing workspace.
Moritory is responsible for the personal data processing described here. Third-party services you choose to connect have their own privacy practices.
2. Data we collect
Local project and settings data
The desktop app saves scripts, footage, narration, exports, brand settings, downloaded models and logs in its data folder on your computer. It does not currently upload or synchronize those projects to a Moritory cloud account. Player preferences and draft edits are also saved locally.
Connected features and credentials
Footage search and downloads contact the selected source sites. Optional online analysis sends the content needed for that feature to its configured provider. Initial model downloads and update checks contact their respective hosts. Cookies and keys you save in desktop Settings are credentials for the corresponding services; they are not website sign-in credentials. Do not share them in support messages or screenshots.
Technical and support information
The website host and the services your app contacts may process IP address, device or browser information, request logs, timestamps and security events. If you contact us, we receive the details, contact information and any diagnostic files you choose to send.
3. How we use data
- Deliver the website, software downloads and update information.
- Process the requests needed for connected features you use.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- Respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.
- Comply with law and protect users, Moritory, and the public.
Where the European Economic Area or similar laws apply, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where the law requires it.
4. Accounts and membership
Moritory uses Google sign-in through Supabase to identify your account. Supabase stores your account ID, email, Google identity details, membership expiry and activation history. The desktop app checks your membership online before allowing work.
The account website lets you view membership details and redeem private activation keys. Activation records include the account that redeemed a key and when it was used. Administrators can restrict a key to a recipient email. Full keys are shown once and only a cryptographic hash is stored. Online checkout is not available and this website does not collect payment details.
Desktop sign-in credentials are encrypted using your operating system’s secure storage. The account website stores its sign-in session in your browser. Signing out removes that local session. Project scripts, source-site cookies, footage and voice references are not sent to the membership service. Contact us using the details below for account data requests.
6. Retention, cookies, and deletion
Local project data remains on your computer until you remove it. Moving a project to Project trash keeps it recoverable; permanently deleting it removes the app's copy. Files you exported elsewhere and your own backups remain under your control.
The account page and signed-in homepage use browser storage for the session needed to keep you signed in. Starting a protected installer download also creates an essential, encrypted browser cookie. It is Secure and HttpOnly, applies only to that download, and expires within five minutes. The download service checks your membership before serving the file. The public website has no advertising cookies or third-party behavioral analytics. The desktop app uses local storage for preferences and recovery drafts. Saved source-site cookies are used for the corresponding site's downloads, not for website analytics.
Delete your data
Use the app's project and data-removal controls to manage local files. Uninstalling does not always erase app data: use the confirmed “Remove all Moritory data” option where offered. On macOS, moving the app to the Trash alone leaves its data folder. For website or support data that we hold, contact privacy@moritory.com. We may verify your identity; records may be retained where needed for legal obligations or security.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of data, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Some rights have legal exceptions.
To exercise a right, email privacy@moritory.com. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity.
8. Security, transfers, and children
The desktop app separates local project data from installed program files. Your device security and backups remain important, especially for saved source-site cookies and keys. No application or online service can guarantee absolute security.
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms and safeguards. Moritory is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy as the Service develops. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or another reasonable channel, and the date above will be updated.
